technical overview and background material

Postby helmut » 04 Oct 2005 17:02

hi,
I just looked through the website to find a general (technical) overview paper: - what is VideoLAN, - how does it work,
if possible with a nice architecture diagram (a picture says more than 1000 words).
I'm not looking for a users guide on VLC, not for a how-to-do, but for a what-is-behind.
I guess such a document exists somewhere (may even have been published in a revue somewhere), but I couldn't find it

Someone can help ?

Well, there are some documents for developers on developers.videolan.org which describe most of the processes behind the scene.
Additionally, zorglub created a graphic showing all the connections between the respective modules, but I don't know whether it is still publicly available. Please just google for his blog and check it.

His posting probably slipped through somehow, so that's why it wasn't answered.

Here it is: http://clement.stenac.org/projects/videolan/vlc.png

It is in french, though, and quite ugly. I'll try to find some time ... soon.
