1.0.0-rc1 announcement

Postby xerces8 » 18 May 2009 13:46

About the "VLC 1.0.0-rc1 and skins contest" news item on http://www.videolan.org/

- the link to the windows binaries gives a 404 error
- there is no list of changes/news or a link to it

Otherwise thumbs up !

David

And if you want the NEWS file:
http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc/NEWS
I know where that file is. The millions of people visiting the site might not, on the other hand.
It was linked in some release news, then not in others. IMO it is a very useful document
for everyone considering an update, so it should be mentioned in each release announcement.

About the binaries, maybe I was redirected to a mirror that was not up to date yesterday. (it works now)

Thanks.

A few other notes:
- RC3 is announced, but the file http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc/NEWS still has rc2 in ti
- are the changes between RCs listed anywhere ? (the NEWS file has only the changes from 0.9.9 to the actual RC)

The NEWS file in the VLC 1.0.0-rc3 has the changes. Also see them here:
http://git.videolan.org/?p=vlc.git;a=bl ... 432b8004bd

I think the only difference is this (for Mac OS X):

Code: Select all

* Support for latest iSight models
In addition to numerous bug fixes etc.
