The subtitles cone is tricky...

If someone didn't understand - the black rect with the symbols is like a teleprompter, or a LED message board...

It's like the 1001 version of it and I'm still having trouble with designing one that looks good in small sizes + express the meaning of "subtitles" without the user to have to wonder "WTF is that?"

any ideas?

well i'd say increase the height of the rectangle... perhaps lighten the red color to make it brighter... increase the size of the red squares and write sub or something on it... ( or how about a 7 segment display instead?)

as far as the look is concerned... i feel that the way it looks now... the text is not equally spaced... so it looks rather unequal

the white background i really dont mind... but the spacing needs to be worked out on...

Can you explain a bit more what you mean by that ?

oh.. jb just showed me how my icons look inside the gui, it's only a rough sketch, not final.

you can see the photoshop mockup i posted right after it.

the tabs we're talking about are in my post - my approach is to split long setting screens into tabbed categories, but the approach preferred here is to minimize the amount of user clicks and not to use tabs.

This is what the discussion is all about.

Well, the question is also about me having to rewrite the code to do the buttons instead of the white thing on the left.

Yesterday, I worked on the tabs, and there will be no tabs in Simple Preferences.

I will move the basic/all settings to the button As soon as I got a correct image (not that red +).

The main police has been changed. And the dialog narrowed a bit.

And the big difficulty is to present something coherent, because the complete preferences needs to have a tree on the left.

And to deal with those segfaults... :D

What do you want instead of the + ?

I thought that there will be a + in "Show all" and a - in "Show less"... was I wrong?

Well, you have proposed the button, and we can put everything we want in that icon.

Show all settings + all icon
Show simple settings + simple icon

Sorry man, I still don’t see anything, it’s still a little too dark. Keep trying though. :)

Ha! Here’s a crazy idea: How about using an image of a different type of sub, like a submarine, or maybe two submarines encircling the cone (two submarines; subs. Get it?). Do it…Do it now!

I really like the new icons :) Good work!
If you were to use the white background and no buttons, I would recommend to reduce the width and adjust the show-settings button-group accordingly, so that it is as wide as the icon-panel.

CloudStalker:

Huh? Sadly enough I wasn’t joking, I thought it would have been interesting; adding a whole visual type of element. But oh well, it doesn’t matter now since it has already been committed to a trunk.

Sorry for my seemingly strange and off-the-wall ideas, but that’s how all great things get their start, right?
Who is the other CloudStalker? There is only one… the one… I.

How about a “sub” sandwich? Ok that was the last one (in this topic anyways) :D

1/ Preferences are already implemented now. So please speak about the already implemented things. I don't understand if you have looked at it or not...

2/ I strongly disagree... Especially for streams and recording.

3/ Can't access devaiantart from work.
