video works great, but NO SOUND AT ALL

this is my first time using VLC (I'm on a MAC) and was totally impressed how easy it was to veiw video. But I can't ANY audio. Is there any (hopefully easy) was to remedy this big problem? Update? Patch? Thanks in advance.

BTW: My OS is Panther. And using VLC to open avi. files. Which we all know Mac's hate with a passion. Please point me in the right direction, even to other apps. that would run AVI files for MAC. thanx.

Try to download a current nightly build and check whether the audio runs for you now. Additionally, provide details on the used hardware and the codecs used inside the AVI-container (have a look at Window -> Information this info) please.

It seems that if and when I tryed to open the avi. file by serching trough VLC the sound was non-exsistant. But when I changed the files default open app. to VLC, it changed file divix, whatever the case; things are running super smooth. Audio + Vedio are present. Thanks Anyway. BTW: your link for "daily build" doesn't open. Thanks VLC. GREAT APP. Will recomend to ALL my Mac friends.
