All menus and commands are missing...?

Postby corsair » 13 Jun 2005 00:19

I recently downloaded the most recent version of VLC to update my older version. My older version had half of the menu commands missing and I couldn't do anything in preferences because there was nothing there to read.

I thought the newer version would work...it's worse. It's as if there is no language isntalled. Out of all the unlabeled tabs (ones that would be File, Edit, View, etc) there are only three commands labeled (Quick Open, Wizard, and Equalizer) though there are spaces for the other commands. The links to to the mysetery commands work, but I just don't know what I'm clicking on.

How can I fix this problem? I don't even know how to get to the preferences page to make changes and I'm pretty sure it's missing all the commands too.

I'm so confused!! :?

you should try reseting your preferences (see the FAQ to find the prefs file and delete it)

I 'll try, but it'll be by braille. Is there an online list of the order of menu options for the basic menus? I know it starts with "File" but what comes next and how do I get to preferences?

Nevermind!

I figured it out. VLC was trying to adapt to my regional settings (Japan) and got caught in a language pickle. Reset my windows regional settings, reinstalled and got it working again. Yipee!
