compatibles cards or Boxes with VLC ?

Hi,
Is somebody have a list of compatible cards or boxes that work with VLC ?
For example I try a Logitech Pro 4000 (DirectSHow) compatible and it works fine, but My Dazzle DC 120 (with proprietary hard encoding) doesn't work nor my SHARP DV CAM (FireWire Port) used with "Microsoft DV DirectSHow VCR" in VLC GUI, although the documentation explain that VLC must work with all directshow compatible devices.
So, I search a simple box (like Formac or Pinnacle box DV) or card that works with VLC to use it to stream a video. I love VLC and I want to show in my University a great example on "How streaming a course".

Can you help me ?

Some compatible hardware is listed in the VLC play howto and streaming howto : http://videolan.org . I suggest that you ask on mailing lists such as streamin@videolan.org or vlc@videolan.org if your card isn't listed in those docs.
