I saw the announcment of the new videolan version(1337).
the d/l link strangely removed and in the d/l section i could only d/l the old version. more debugging? tackles of the last moment? a bad taste of april's fools?

Yes, it was an April Fool's.

The latest nightly builds, the real thing, are always available, but there hasn't been a new formal release point since 0.8.1.
