Debian packages

Postby amies » 23 Mar 2005 22:03

Just wondering is someone going to do updates to Debian packages? The VLC 0.7.0 is a bit old.

Also, I tried to install according to procedures in http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-debian.html
I used aptitude and apt-get. I tested woody and sid install. I have Debian sarge box (Kernel 2.4.27-1-386).
But this is as far as it goes...

# apt-get install wxvlc libdvdcss2
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://download.videolan.org sid/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/download.videolan.org_pub_videolan_debian_dists_sid_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Couldn't find package wxvlc

Any ideas?

in sid, vlc is 0.8.2-svn (from 3 weeks ago ... and its all broken :) )

you can get libdvdcss by adding

Code: Select all

deb http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/debian sid main
in your /etc/apt/sources.list file and running apt-get install libdvdcss2
