Newbie VLC 0.8.1 sound staggers

Postby jss » 07 Dec 2004 14:18

Hi - am very VLC newbie... just download 0.8.1. Installed no problems but when I play an mp3 from local disc file the sound "staggers" along - it plays about 1 second that there's a sort of very short break after which the sound resumes. These breaks are through the whole track (at regular intervals). Same thing when I play a .wav file. Machine is 1.3Ghz Athlon under NT4 SP6 0.5Gb mem mobo = asus A7N8X-X with onboard sound disabled. Soundcard = soundblaster. The sounds (mp3 etc) work fine if played by other software eg Winamp
