no picture with http stream

I use VLC 0.7.2 (mxWindows Oberfläche). I have no problems with VCDs, SVCDs or DVD. AVIs(DivX, XVID, Quicktime) are also no problem.
Now I wanted to watch internet tv. Using WinAmp works. But only with small resolutions. I also have this problem with other Video sources, especially when displaying content in a compressed format. This is a hardware problem. Mine is to slow.
VLC was my answer to all these problems, because it uses DirectX and so even DVD Quality AVIs run perfect.
Now I can´t get VLC to display any picture when I try to watch video streams from the internet.
The Manual, FAQs and the Forum didn´t help. The only reason for this behavior I found was, that I have a bandwidth problem. This can not be true. The Station only broadcasts with 100 kbits bandwidth and I have a 2 mbit DSL connection.
I tried numerous stations at different times, just incase some server on the way is the problem, but this didn´t change anything.
Error discription:
No error message, VLC only plays sound and doesn´t even try to open a video Window!
Hardware:
Duron 1000 overclocked to 1090 mhz
1 GB ram
64 mb Nvidia gforce 2 mx 400 overclocked about 10%
2000 mbit internetconnection
WinXP prof build 2600 sp1 and most security updates

I would appreciate your help very much.

The fact that you mentioned winamp makes me think you are trying to view NSV streams. What is important is that many of these streams use VP6.2 which is a proprietary codec which VLC doesn't support.

See View->Messages for warnings and errors.

You are right. Ok, problem solved!
Is there any plan to change this in the future? And do you know any program to watch these streams that supports DirextX?
Otherwise I google a little.

Yes, that is correct. Problem solved! Kind of.
Is there any chance that this will change in the future and do you know any program that supports DirextX to watch these streams. Preferably freeware.
If not, I´ll have to google a little!
