is it possible to do this using VideoLan ?

Postby shivaji » 22 Dec 2003 11:26

Hello All: :)

I am new here and got some questions in mind. Is there anyone who help me out giving some logical solutions? I am looking for a webcam community website with following features :

01. Ability to deliver Live content in a high quality video and audio format directly to our paying customers.

02. No downloads for our customers! Live content should be surfed via the web pages.

03. Allows to make our own live studio, or have performers work for us from their homes.

04. Charge our customers any amount we like on a pay per minute basis. Our customers can pay online via credit card on a fully secure system.

05. High Speed / High Quality Video and Audio.

06. Single or Multi-Camera support. Single or multi room & studio support.

07. Should supports any combination of studio camera setups as well as home-cam operators. Connect multiple "home cams" or studios and create a large, 'virtual' studio).

08. Block of time billing. Charge users in blocks of minutes (5 minutes, 20 minutes, etc). Time is automatically deducted from the users account. Upon completion, customer is directed to a sign-up page to purchase additional time

09. Per-Minute billing. Users pay only for the time they use

10. Affiliate System: A commission system for us to pay our resellers automatically, and adjust commission rate any time. Generate quick and easy reports for all web masters providing us customer traffic. Generate reports for any time period, using any formula. (Hits, Uniques, Commissions, etc).

11. Automated scaleable Video & audio quality to control bandwidth usage

If i am not wrong i think this is the system you are offering for VideoLAN project ? If this features is not supported, is anybody there who would suggest me for a system which supports all these features ?

Thanks and Regards,
Shiva.

01. Ability to deliver Live content in a high quality video and audio format directly to our paying customers.
VideoLAN can. But webcams can't :)
02. No downloads for our customers! Live content should be surfed via the web pages.
It may be possible through our Mozilla plugin, however it is an experimental feature. Don't rely too much on it.
03. Allows to make our own live studio, or have performers work for us from their homes.
Absolutely. Please consider, however, that streaming through a VideoLAN server demands some skills. VLC streaming is quite simpler, but still not a low level user feature.
04. Charge our customers any amount we like on a pay per minute basis. Our customers can pay online via credit card on a fully secure system.
No. VLC does not implement (at present time and in its standard version) any kind of content encryption / protection / payment whatsoever. Some solutions have been tested by our partner (or former partner) enterprises.
05. High Speed / High Quality Video and Audio.
That's the aim of the project :)
06. Single or Multi-Camera support. Single or multi room & studio support.
It looks like an interface issue. If you want to use the VLC Mozilla plugin, it will be up to you to script those functions directly into your web pages.
07. Should supports any combination of studio camera setups as well as home-cam operators. Connect multiple "home cams" or studios and create a large, 'virtual' studio).
I do not understand your question, sorry.
No. As I mentioned before, no payment or billing is supported at present time.
11. Automated scaleable Video & audio quality to control bandwidth usage
What do you mean by "automated"?

For such specific requests, you might be rather asking to an enterprise to code or modify existing solutions to your specific needs, as no "out of the box" solution may be perfectly suitable to what you are asking.

Kind regards,

Wow...
Shivaji, next time try to simply ask: "Can Videolan be used to manage and run a P33P Sh0W WebSite?"
;)

BTW the sourcecode is under GPL and in respect of the GPL licence you can customize/modify videolan on your needs...

Bye
