Minor (but extremely noteworthy) suggestions

Greetings,

the thing which holds VLC back, it's inconvenience and usability. I'm talking about tiny things like switching full-screen mode with alt+enter, playing/pausing video when clicking on video, having seekbar showup in fullscreen, having seekbar seek to exact place I clicked on (instead on jumping way too early or too far), and so on so forth..

It would take mere minutes to implement, but would make the player so much more useable..

Thank you for your time..

you can select whatever hotkey you like for fullscreen, including alt-enter. It's right there in the preferences. I personally find it extremly annoying if a player choose to pause if I acidently click the video window. And even worse if it puts things in the fullscreen. Finally, newer versions of vlc will seek quite nicly to where you click on file formats where the neccessary information is available in the coding. With other formats preceise seeking is highly non-trivial.

I've spent many hours working on vlc, and in my experience it is these little things that really takes time. Not just mere minutes.

But I'm glad you like it, and that you see a potential for improvment.

Well, unfortunately i'm bound to 0.6.2, because any later version has problems playing incomplete files (even when used with libaccess_partfile_plugin) - which I my main use for the player.. So unless I'm blind there's no way to bind hotkeys in that version, and all other problems remain aswell..

If you are having problems with newer versions of VLC and want this to get fixed then I would suggest doing useful bug-reports :p

Like what exactly happens, which kind of files are affected or even better, upload a sample for which you can reliably reproduce the problem.

Perhaps you should ask the eMule people to update their partfile plugin in stead of asking us to do all the work we did once again

Well uhm, there *is* partfile plugin for vlc 0.7.1, which unfortunately doesnt work nearly as good as 0.6.2 one - and the author said it was VLC problem.

While I cannot confirm it's really so, there has to be something wrong - otherwise it would work, no?

They're broken files for gods sake. stop playing them.

Get a real connection or don't download 700MB files using your 56kb and just buy or rent the DVD.

MAN!
Don't use PMs for support questions.

Oh right - so now we're supposed to run from illness instead of trying to cure it? Isn't VLC supposed to play anything you throw at it? Besides, what partfile plugin does is throw a CORRECT stream at VLC, which is NOT broken (at least isnt supposed to be), so your point is invalid from the very start.

p.s. I have 3mbit connection

p.p.s. I'm downloading live footage which isnt released on dvd

if the partfile plugin worked before and don't work now, then it is the partfile plugin that is broken. If whoever made the partfile plugin thinks the problem is in vlc, then they should ask us, and we might fix it.
