Is there a videobuffer in VLC or outside it? I'm having problems with DVD playback, it hangs for like 1/10 sec every 10-20 mins or so. Is it a hardware or a software thing? Anyways, any solutions?

It's probably your harddisk that went to sleep. Then for some reason your OS needs something from the harddrive and it needs to spin up to speed. This can show in your video playing since that is a very intensive task in itself.
