sound does sometimes not work with vlc player 0.8 for mac

Hi to everybody.
i am trying to fix following troubles: when i start a divx movie vlc player starts everything normal. the picture and the sound are good. as soon i want to shift a little bit forward or backwards the sound stops. the movie picture is still working fine; only sound is gone.

i cannot figure it out why this happens, because other movies are working fine.

if i play the divx file with quick time everything seems to be ok.

i am a newbie in mac. so perhaps somebody could give me a little help (use mac os 10 panther on a powerbook g4)

Most likely because the index of the avi file is broken. Use an avi index fixer application to repair the file.

tried to install the nightly built. this version does not start at all on my os.

when i play the movies on xp os with media player, the sound stays stable whether I switch or not.

As I wrote before: I don not loose sound, when I do not shift the movie in vlc. when I shift for example 5 minutes forward the sound is gone.

Could it be, that I use wrong sound codecs???
