Total n00b Requires HELP!!

Postby Sover » 01 Apr 2004 16:20

Hi there,
Was wondering if anyone can help me out. I need a few hint or a idoits guild to setting this up of Windows platform.

Can anyone knock a quick guild up showing how to do this as I haven't got a clue to do this.

First off, so get ready for a stupid questions...

1st off:

do you need VLC and VLS to do a point to point stream?

If you need VLS, is there a windows version as it seems to be Linux driven by the command prompts...

Any help you can give will save my life in the future...

Thanks!

Stu...

VLC is enough to do streaming, either point-to-point or multicast, at least for small setups.

Take a look at http://wiki.videolan.org/tiki-view_articles.php, the guide to UDP streaming. It has screen captures, should get you there.

It's also pretty easy to bypass Streaming Wizard, set something up to launch from a command line (e.g., make a batch file), to start a streaming session. I'm feeding a camera into a 640x480 framegrabber on Win2K, streaming to another PC with a one-line batch file.
