If using windows, it uses the Microsoft DirectShow API (look in modules/access/dshow)

If using GNU/Linux, it uses Video4Linux (modules/access/v4l)

open the directshow, select the video source. then u need to select a transcoding option since vlan cannot stream raw data directly from the webcam.. then stream it using vlc or vls
