Codec for VLC

Postby schildkroeter » 25 Mar 2005 20:11

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `VP62'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

This is the error I get when I try to open a Stream that is orginally designed für Winamp(SHOUTcast...
as I use a Mac I cant use Winamp, and I had hoped that VLC could deal with that.
Now it gives me Audio, but no Videosignal...

Anybody know what codec I have to get?

No luck -- that's an ON2 proprietary video CODEC. VLC doesn't support it (no add-in available)

VLC Codec Problem

Postby bfrethy » 05 Apr 2005 01:51

I'm also getting an error message:
No suitable decoder mofule for fourcc 'undf'
VLC probable does not support this sound or video format.

This is the error message I get when trying to open a downloaded movie file - 'avi'
I run Windows XP

Can anyone tell me what codec I need?

"undf" is a generic token for an unknown / unsupported codec. Have a look at the information-window (accessible through the playlist-window) for the exact codec.

Anyway, there is no way for end-users to add codecs to VLC. It is self-contained and there is no way to add new codecs. Feel free to post the codec's name though.

Only their VP32 codec is open sourced (and VLC does support this codec).

BTW. Flash although multiplatform and well designed isn't Free, nor Open either.
Don't use PMs for support questions.
