VLC doesn't play OE attached file

I have set VLC player 0.8.2 as default player for video files. If I click a file in Windows Explores, VLC plays it, but if I do that with an attached file to a message in Outlook Express, it doesn't play. O.S. says there is no application associated to that file name.
