play videos faster

i know that you can play videos at least with 4x-speed
(with the ">>" button) . is it also possible to play the movies
faster than 4x, maybe with 12x speed (I want make some art-shoots with
my olympus c4040)

Theoretically, if you have the CPU power, yes.
However this is disabled in VLC, because most computers cannot handle it, resulting in heavy frame dropping etc, which then again results in a lot of complaining users, whom we cannot explain this behaviour to.
