why don't work 5+1 sound on VLC ?

If somebody of you can help me please write me, how to setup the audio options in VLC. I have an Creative Live 5+1 soundcard and genius 5+1 repro, but whit VLC sound work just on stereo mode... and in conclusion , just 2 of my repro work... (

what worked for me was using the MYHD SPDIF and running that into my receiver
