SuSE 9.3 Pro installationproblem

Postby Garth » 02 Jun 2005 15:20

I am am relatively new Linux user using SuSE 9.3 Pro and because SuSE can't play DVD video's I downloaded VideoLan for the 9.3 version and chose your i586 download. When I try to intall the rpm using their YAST system installer I get a whole lot of conflicts of items it can't find.
a52dec
faad2 >= 2.0-
liba52.so.0
libavcodec.so
......... to name a few.
Have I downloaded the wrong vlc for my PC (Intel Celeron 2.26 Ghz) or why are all these libraries etc missing.
I've loaded the entire multimedia supplied by SuSE and it does not resolve any of these errors.
Hope someone can help me get this going.

You have to install it seperately. For every missing library you have to
get suitable rpms or source files. After installation of the other libraries, it should work.
