Video filetype associations

Postby iamtehwalrus » 03 Apr 2005 18:06

Just installed VLC b/c no matter what I did... i could, for the life of me, run .wmv
Installed VLC, and everything works great, so bravo for that

Anyway, during installation, it had asked what files I wanted to associate VLC with. I didn't select any because I figured I could do it later in the options
Couldn't find it though, and the only way I can see to do it is to manually do it through right click-open with...
I've tried that with .wmv files: they open up with VLC but in explorer, the icons are windows media player icons

Any ideas? (My goal is to associate all video files with VLC and make sure the icons in explorer are the VLC icon)

oy...
that's the logical thing to do I guess
Also is there any way to save a media file once it's already playing? e.g. if you open a video file from the internet and u choose "openwith" instead of "save as", can you save it through VLC?
