Identifying a video stream

Postby Guest » 21 Mar 2005 06:26

If you have captured a video stream how do you go about figuring out if it is in a format you can play back with VLC?

In this case I have one of VSee's boxes and I captured the video from it. The super structure of it is kind of obvious: keyframe + a number of delta frames.

But how do you dissect the stream to determine what codec was used and how to communicate that to the VLC player. All this of cause not knowing is this can be done at all.

Try using a utility like gspot for instance.
Don't use PMs for support questions.
