Mozilla plugin and qtmlclient.dll

Postby chasshoo » 16 Mar 2005 17:22

Hi!

I am using VLC 0.8.1 win32 (Windows XP). I have downloaded and installed the qtmlclient.dll file for QDM2 functionality. The player now works great with these QuickTime files.

I have also installed the Mozilla plugin for Firefox and it works well except it does not play audio for QDM2 files that require the qtmlclient.dll file.

IS there anyway to get the plugin to play these files?

[I have tried copying the dll to the Firefox plugin folder as one solution but that did not work.]

Any help would be appreciated,
Charlie

copy the qtmlclient.dll and place it next to the vlc mozilla plugin dll
That should do the trick

Hi, again!

I'm sorry, but that is what I had already tried. I tried it again and it still doesn't work. I did also try to uninstall and reinstall Firefox.

In my C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins folder, the relevant files I have are:

npvlc.dll, 5,909,504 bytes, version 0.8.0.0
vlcintf.xpt, 578 bytes
qtmlClient.dll, 225,280 bytes

Just to recap, I can see .mov files (QDM2 format) but not hear them. Without the plugin, the QuickTime plugin works well (but of course, it's yucky ( <== term of art).

Thanks for any help,
Charlie

Perhaps the qtmlclient.dll needs to be next to the Firefox progam, since that is the program that is actually running, and not the VLC plugin.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You were absolutely right!

I now have qtmlclient.dll in:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

and everything works great (audio in QDM2 files).

Hope this helps someone else,
Charlie
