Read a *.avi file via http protocol

I'm trying to read an *.avi file on http://www.archive.org with a command line like vlc http://www.archive.org/...
The video starts and quickly freezes.
Message like this appear:

main video output warning: late picture skipped (397043)
...
If I have well understood, all pictures are skipped because they are loaded to late to ensure continuity of the video. It seems to be normal with http !!!
I tried to increase the http cache (--http-caching ...). VLC
fill it in without any error message, then display it,
and after that video freezes and errors occur.

Can you tell me how to parameterize VLC not to skip images and force it to display all pictures, even if too late ?

VLC does live streaming.
So if the server or your connection isn't fast enough to transport the data, then you should download the file with your browser or something and then play it. VLC does not buffer an entire file.

I didn't suppose I could have performed a LIVE streaming via HTPP. I just would like to stream a file i.e. see each picture, even if real time is not effective.

So, it's normal some pictures are freezed BUT they should be freezed only until the next one will be loaded and displayed (500ms or 4s later).

What seems curious to me is the fact a picture freezes (after all the cache has been displayed) and then NO picture at all will be displayed, whereas they are loaded normally via HTTP.

Obviously, I suppose VLC DO stream via HTTP (with above definition) but I don't how to force it to do that...

Can you help me ?

PS For live streaming I'm testing RTSP. In this case only, a low PC could explain a stream displayed without real time.
