How do I make VideoLAN the default program so that all my media opens with it?

The installer of the Windows-build has such a feature. If you don't want to reinstall VLC, you need to get this in your explorer or whether you are using Mac OS in the Information-window of the Finder. That's a default feature of every OS and is done quite easily.
