Postby jaelanicu » 04 Jan 2005 20:56

Is there a standard for networked TV streaming (eg. ISO/IEEE)?
Thank you for all replies.

ehm no.
Why else you think this market is such a mess?

The thing that comes closest to it is the MPEG2 DVB standards that are used by the international broadcasting companies in the world. (for sattelites o.a.).

Helas there is no real official standard for internet streaming.
The best and most widely supported one is probably RTSP MPEG-4
Don't use PMs for support questions.

vlcplayer, udp on an ibook with os x

Postby norweeled » 08 Jan 2005 20:13

Hi. I used vlc-player to receive channels on my computer from the "home central" withc has one port to the pc broadband, to ports for television and on for a phone. Insead og using this setup-box that we use to the television only (instead of vlc-player to pick op the signals from det UDP-adresses). When I downloaded the player to til ibook with osx and put the cable into the rj45-port at this machine, it wouldn´t work. It wouldn´t show the channels on this mac. Only errors came up. Do you know what seems to be the problem? The computer runs xp home edition...

I appreciate the help :)
