VCD's and SVCD's won't play!!

It was suggested that I try VLC..Not working.Tried POWER-DVD..Not working.I've loaded as many codec packs and codecs as I can find..No help.VCD's and SVCD's (in mediaplayer) get a scrambled top and a green
bottom.Same in Power-DVD and ATI-Media player.In VLC,I get nothing.In VLC,a little drop-down bar shows and disappears.
These are the avseq01.dat files in the VCD structure.

My system is XPpro,ati 9800 pro video card,pentium pentium4 - 3.20,
1gig of ram.......

Just try this it worked for me ok.

click start>>my computer>>right click your dvd drive then go to propertys and then click on hardware then look at the model and make of your dvd drive then take that and google it and try to find the drivers.

Install the drivers and you should be set.

I feel good knowing at least some problems are fixable by me cause all this other stuff is mumbo jumbo to me
