Hey everyone! I found a solution for myself. I just switched my subtitle encoding to UTF-8 From windows something something. And it works fine. No changes in the shape or look of subtitles too. Hope it helps someone!

I googled the error and I guess vlc can't handle mp4 and subtitles? And this has been true for years? People said converting mp4 to mkv ... Which is true. But converting mp4 to mkv using vlc causes the audio to stutter every 5 seconds. I think I'm just going to ditch VLC and use Windows ...

I also have files with the same problem.

Those are mkv files of 720x574 with two VobSub streams.
Both streams make the video stutter at subtitle text start.
With subtitles off, the video plays fine.

So you can add another user which have this problem.

Also noticed this problem at Appletv 4/4k gen1/4k gen2 with app IPTVX.

Whenever subtitles are active there a pile of stutter/judder as soon as the subtitle is shown.

Getting a headache of this. Very annoying.

Still getting this issue. VLC 3.4.3 on a Sony X90J running latest firmware. Very big obvious stutter every time a subtitle shows up. Seems to happen with PGS, but not SRT. Not sure about ASS.

Having the same problem streaming from Synology 218+ to Android TV Philips 55oled903/12.
Dropping frames when new subtitle line appears. Very annoying.

VLC for Android TV 3.3.1 so no fix has been done yet.

I'm still having this exact problem on my Mi box, whenever i remove the subtitle the video playback is fine. I hope you will find a solution for this soon

Hello, I have the same issue.. 4K movie files hosted on Synology NAS, playing with AndroidTV on Philips 55OLED903/12 TV. If the subtitles are activated frames are dropped on many subtitle lines.
