I think the known issue with multiple file opening on Windows was fixed some time ago in VLC 3.0. It's not completely fixed in VLC 3.0: video output will be opened in a separate window audio-only media will be played, but the UI looks like ...

The vast majority of people is using releases, not testing versions.

Current release version is 2.2.1, not 3.0.

I just want to add 'me too'.
I can select multiple files one-at-a-time (and build an ad-hoc play-list) but doing so all at once, the media starts to play, but I also get a popup error similar to the above, and acknowledging the error then causes the app to crash.
