When I try to play any video file with VLC using the OpenGL view output module, it crashed with the following output: VLC media player 0.9.8a Grishenko [00000001] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - version 0.9.8a Grishenko - (c) 1996-2008 the VideoLAN team [00000001] main libvlc debug: libvlc was...
Hello all, I managed to cross-compile VLC 0.9.6 on Ubuntu 8.10 using the extra/contrib way but the built VLC is unable to play H264 video. "It gives me error: No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fi...
EDIT: It seem as if this is impossible. I will try shared. I'd prefer static to get rid of dependency issues. I tried to build this as a static binary but it didn't work: make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/hendero/vlc/vlc-0.9.8a/src/test' make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/hendero/vlc/vlc-0.9.8a/src' ...
Hi! I'm compiling VLC 0.9.6 for Debian Etch using kernel 2.6.26-bpo.1-686 from backports. I found compatibility problem with avcodec, avformat, avutil and postproc that came with Debian, this is why "apt-get build-dep vlc" does not work. Also, ffmpeg from SVN does not work too. See steps f...
... sound. I thought I had an audio passthrough option for output that is gone in this version. I used direct audio passed to the motherboard and the SPDIF to my receiver (bypassing audio software).
... audio output options, I've selected my M66 card. (I am running a second sound device, an integrated VIA sound chip.) I've also checked "Use SPDIF when [where?] available". I am not getting any sound. My other multimedia players like Amarok and mplayer allow me to enter my ALSA device ...
Hi, I'm trying to play an rtsp stream... rtsp://169.229.131.16:554//events/sph//sph_20071127.rm It plays fine in mplayer (I just prefer vlc). I've tried several, and noted the same result. Playing with Mplayer and AC3 sound, the pitch seems different than if I play with Xine, Totem or VLC and selecting Stereo sound. I also got the core dump with the current nightly build of VLC playing different avi files encoded with the AC3 codec. I can...
Hubris, might it not be better to test AC3 passthrough with another file? Maybe there's something wrong with this one. Or did you try several video-files already?
Ok....I'm not entirely sure what you need. Ubuntu crash dumps are normally set to 0 bytes...so there's nothing for me to check. When I play the same video file in gmplayer I get the following results: AVI file format detected. [aviheader] Video stream found, -vid 0 [aviheader] Audio stream found, -a...
that won't change anything however you could give us the backtrace (from the core dump), and what i asked you the other time, if you can figure it: [00000427] main audio output debug: input 'a52 ' 48000 Hz Dolby frame=1 samples/768 bytes there is maybe a problem on the frame size, can you figure wha...
Wow - the latest nightly version for Gutsy is getting the same error message (unable to set stream sample size and word order: invalid argument) and actually crashes with a core dump.
I'll try compile the source tonight and see if that works any better.
Sorry guys, I haven't been home the last couple evenings. My experience with the nightly .90 from the repository was less-than-ideal, yet vlcuser01 had success when building from scratch. Perhaps there is simply something different between my system and that used to compile the repository version......
... frame size, can you figure what is sent by the other players? did you use vlc <= 0.8.4 with this file (the last version which could play throuh spdif, now quite old...) ? finally which sound card are you using ?

... from the Gutsy nightly repository. This is the output when I start the player and begin playing a video encoded with AC3. I have light from the SPDIF cable, but the receiver doesn't interpret an AC3 signal, and I get no sound. [00000001] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - version 0.9.0-svn ...
