Re: DVD features for VLC 1.3.0

What I meant, was that while the Yadif2X and IVTC filters are GREAT for certain films and medias, they don't seem very intelligent at all for media with very unstable progessive frames, like old movies or certain very-high-quality CGI films. If there was a way to mix the Yadif2X and IVTC filters to...

Re: DVD features for VLC 1.3.0

I have a suggestion here: Can you implement a filter that decreases brightness in really bright scenes and also more effectively "de-grainifies" a film? Perfect 480p output would be optimal. Hmm, sounds like this would require a combination of what Epson is doing with their "Superwhi...

Re: DVD features for VLC 1.3.0

Hi, (happened to browse the forums after a long while...) Here is my list of things I would like to see in VLC 1.3.0 . 1) DVD upscaling filter(hopefully advanced), that can use a hardware-detection script of sorts to determine how much upscaling to perform. Ideally, lower-end hardware should be able...

Re: Playback issues on Disney DVDs

I have the same problem with a lot of recent Disney DVDs (Toy Story 1, 2 & 3, Cars,...). I think there is a problem with some scenes where some objects are translated in the language selected at the beginning of the playback. for example, in the beginning of Cars, when the first race is in the ...

Re: Playback issues on Disney DVDs

I know that some recent Disney DVD's are using a new protection scheme and maybe that's the cause of the trouble. Now that this forum thread was resurrected... I can confirm the same phenomenon on many Funimation anime titles. At the end of each episode of a series on such a disc, VLC may skip a fe...

Unfortunately, I'm not terribly familiar with OpenGL so it's hard to spot something that doesn't look right. Technologicat...do you have any experience with OpenGL? No, I'm not familiar with OpenGL, either. Maybe we should post about the issue on the vlc-devel mailing list ( http://mailman.videolan...

Re: Remote Control Interface Specifics

I don't have experience with the remote control interface, so I can't help with the first question, but about DVDs: 2) How is DVD menu display/navigation? MPlayer uses DVDNav. It doesn't display selection highlights on DVD menus correctly at all (semi-transparent blocks instead). Does VLC cope any b...

Re: Nightly build on Snow Leopard hang

To my understanding, no. The old OS X GUI has gone out of date with respect to the updated core. It is basically not available for 1.2-git, but the new GUI isn't ready. Thanks very much for that info, means I can stop spinning my wheels. No problem. I need one of the new features in the 1.2 branch ...

Re: Blank white screen with VLCKit

I'm experiencing the same thing and I'm giving it a go on trying to fix it. Nice. It's a bit daunting as I'm just looking at the VLC codebase for the first time. A sense of adventure seems essential. As does a sense of humor. Yeah :) The first thing I can tell you is I'm not sure why you were seein...

Re: Compiling vlc-git on Mac OS X 10.6.5 failed

I think it's probably the other way around - it's gotten that frustrating because it lacks developers :) I just noticed you mentioned 1.1.x, too. That one compiled successfully for me - at least 64-bit. I followed the instructions on the wiki: http://wiki.videolan.org/OSXCompile . If I recall correc...

Better post on vlc-devel. Many devs don't read the forums.

Re: Framerate doubling - crash?

Update: I debugged this a bit. Fixed. The function ThreadDisplayRenderPicture() (in src/video_output/video_output.c) attempts to generate its direct buffer, and this sometimes fails. Sure enough, gdb pointed to the last line of the following snippet (at this point, "direct" is a new local ...

[SOLVED] Framerate doubling - crash?

Hi all, After developing an IVTC filter, I thought I'd have a go at another kind of deinterlacer... that doesn't deinterlace at all :) That is, I'm simulating an old CRT in software. If we don't mind that the pixel positions don't exactly match between an LCD display and a CRT TV, this can be done w...

Re: Playback issues on Disney DVDs

Technologicat, Lotesdelere, thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, I don't run Ubuntu. I'm running Win XP. And I don't have any DVD-ripping software. I could try to search some out, at least as a trial. Ah, I thought that... The -vv option probably works on Windows, too, if you open VLC from the c...

Re: VLC 1.06 DVD playback problems

Hi! I have two Disney DVD discs, which does not playback regularly: Pixar Cars and Cars: Mater‘s Tall Tales. Plyaback stucks suddenly and then jumps ca. 10 seconds forward. This happens near new chapter always. It seems that VLC can not handle correctly these Disney DVD's. How can I get them work? ...

Re: DVD titel and chapter numbers are not displayed

Hi

VLC obviously doesn't display for DVDs the just playing title and chapter number. Or is there any configuration I overlooked? MPC does.
If you just want to find out the numbers, try the menu - the Playback > Title and Playback > Chapter submenus should show which one is playing.

Re: Playback issues on Disney DVDs

OK, am I doing something wrong in my posts? Why can I not get a response? Nah, it's probably just that no one knows. Could you try with "vlc -vv" from the command line on your Ubuntu machine? That should produce debug output into the terminal window, which might help in finding the problem.

Re: Lunettes - compile issue and crash (fixed - what now?)

Since the availableMediaDiscoverer accessor clearly looks like a singleton that wants to access the global, I fixed this in my copy by renaming the global and the references to it in the accessor to resolve the name conflict. After this change the app compiled correctly. I suppose I could have been...

Re: VLC won't play .ISO files

How to play an ISO depends on what it contains - ISO is just a disc image. That is why it's giving an "undefined file" FOURCC: it is not a video file as-is. Try File > Open Disc. Replace the contents of the "Device Name" text box with the full path to the ISO file (e.g. /Users/xx...
