You can create new video file with VLC that has the effects applied. But since you need transcode, quality will go lower if you use lossy encoders.

OK, but can you post the steps that one should follow to accomplish it?

I would welcome a simple procedure (if there is one) for saving a file after making changes such as tweeking contrast, saturatuion, sharpening, etc.

I have to tweek my files -- usually just contrast, saturation and some sharpening -- but I can't figure out how to save the files after making these changes. Can this be done, and if so can someone post the procedure?
