The ctrl up and ctrl down keys still work just like in prior versions.

Re: 0.92: Vids start with couple seconds of black...

Try looking at messages. Some videos show lost (corrupted) frame at the beginning as the encoder and or machine that did the encoding settles. While this is not the norm, I have seen it happen. Assuming this is not a one off particular to this file, can you bring it down to a format and file type (c...

Re: Album Art

I know I posted something somewhere else about this this morning! :)

At the moment it is best to leave this preference in the default which is manual. The function does not work and causes vlc to crash if there is already album art in the directory you are trying to play.

Re: VLC 0.9.2

I agree it gets rather messy. I believe the real issue here is FFmpeg support for WMAp. WMP 11 and the SDK is better than WMP 10 and the SDK was an optional add on or you could do the package that gave you VC1, but was not available on Microsoft's update website, you had to search for it. Going back...

Re: Feedback on 0.9.2

OK! Just keep in mind that each user should have their own libraries. Like iTunes and not a communal library like Real Player.

Re: Retrieving overwritten file?

VLC always prompts for the over writing of an existing file. Once a file has been deleted free space is available to the storage media and using a program or system to store information on the same storage media my over write the deleted file. When over writing a file most generally the same space o...

Re: Feedback on 0.9.2

What would really be slick is, if there could be a library for Music under My Music and a Library for Videos under My Videos each called VLC and that the Libraries location could be overridden in Preferences for those people that use another drive for media storage. OH! Using a standard .m3u playlis...

I agree, it should be working. Windows XP SP2 or SP3 should not make a difference. Skin mode has remembered player position for a long time now.

Re: Double click behavior on the tray icon

OK! :) Most Windows applications only respond to a double click (default) but it can be changed to a single click under the OS. So it probably would be best to be a double click.

Re: 16:9??

The aspect ratio is contained in the header for the container and is generally pulled from the original file format when the audio and video etc. are placed in the container. VLC uses this information to set the proper aspect ratio. If you can specifically tell VLC to set the desired aspect ratio wh...

Re: Feedback on 0.9.2

In iTunes for Windows the default directory is My Documents\My Music :)

It's Real Player that (in my opinion) is odd as it uses a shared directory under all users called My Videos.

Re: [0.9.2] Position at opening

vlc 0.8.6x or earlier used the wx windows interface and did not remember position. In 0.9.2 vlc uses the qt interface and it is supposed to remember position or at least it does for me using Windows XP SP3. What is your OS? There was an old Windows trick for programs that do not internally remember ...

Re: XiVs Codec VLC 0.9.2

Could you be more specific as to what the formats are (both audio and video) in a .mov container?

Generally, Quicktime doesn't do XviD or DivX under Windows even though they say it does with the proper codecs installed.

Unlike 0.8.6x just put the player where you want it on screen and when you reopen the player it should be where you last put it. There is nothing in preferences to set.

WMAp is a 5.1 audio format for the WMA container and is not supported in VLC. The probable cause is support in FFmpeg.

6) a) The library shouldn't be in a hidden directory. Re: Feedback on 0.9.2

I installed and played with 0.9.2 yesterday and worked with it for about 6 Hrs. This is what I found: 1. vlc --intf qt --embedded-video (default with no changes to preferences) seems reasonably stable. However there are some oddities playing any video: a. The system tray is turned on by default and ...

Re: MP4A 5.1 audio stream over S/PDIF - plays in STEREO instead

AAC is not a S/PDIF compatible format.

If I remember correctly the implementation of AAC in 0.8 was never finished. There was channel mapping and level issue for 5.1 audio.

Re: Brightness problem

When you have the desired setting open preferences and press Save.

Ideally the best way is to do this with the video overlay function on your Video card.
