Re: Subtitles OFF by Default Option

Sure. Whoops! Egg on my face :) When I went to retrieve the file to send it to you I noticed that there were ".sub" files in the same folder. That's where the Martian subtitles were coming from. So they are not in the avi file. Never the less there remains the issue that VLC plays them by...

Re: Subtitles OFF by Default Option

Embedded subtitles in .avi? This is weird.
What can I say :) You want me to send you a copy of the file?

Re: Subtitles OFF by Default Option

Subtitles are external?
No, they are in the file itself (Stream 2 according to VLC). MediaInfo doesn't show them however. That's why I included the screenshot from VLC.

Re: Subtitles OFF by Default Option

I'd like to second that request. Set it to None in preferences. I had a good look for the 'none' option in the latest version but had no luck. I have tried typing both "None" and "Disable" in the Preferred Subtitle Language of the Subtitles Preference Pane. Neither works. A work...

Subtitles OFF by Default Option

I would like a global option or preference for subtitles to be OFF by default when opening a video. As it is, if there is a subtitle track, they automatically display. I have to turn them off individually for every video in the playlist when it opens. This gets to be be a real pain in the butt.

Re: VLC refuses to take screenshots/screencaps

Finally figured out this problem! The built-in speech module in OS-X intercepts the key. Disable "Speak selected text when key is pressed" in "Text to Speech" preference pane.

Re: VLC refuses to take screenshots/screencaps

Yes, I deleted the preferences both manually and using the "Delete Old Preferences" script that ships with the app. I'm wondering if some other application doesn't "own" the key. However I have tried changing it to numerous other keys and they still aren't recognized. For example...

Re: VLC refuses to take screenshots/screencaps

I have the same configuration and the same issue. I can take a snapshot by selecting the menu option but the keyboard shortcut doesn't work even if you change it to something else.
