Re: How to see the total playtime for a playlist?

Are these files movie files? (And Winamp doesn't recognize them because system codecs are not installed?) 'Cuz I didn't think there were any audio types that Winamp doesn't recognize. I know it would usually be more convenient to be able to see the total playing time as you add files to the list, bu...

Re: VLC opens when click a folder

: rogerdpack You're right about your reg file. I am starting to wonder however if the Win XP Registry is coded the same as Vista. I am using Vista and with a blank value there the reported problem is reproduced but with the word none as the value the problem disappears. In the Folder\Shell key howev...

Re: VLC opens when click a folder

Uninstalling VLC should remove all VLC context menus but might not fix the problem. If you want the VLC menu items don't uninstall. It is true that correcting any value that may have been entered as a default action for the shell under the Directory key would fix the problem if that had been the cau...

Re: VLC opens when click a folder

This issue is a corrupted registry probably caused by a bad shutdown. Another program or a virus could have caused it but not very likely. If you have a sudden power outage, manually power off your system without closing Windows down first, or suffer a hard jolt to your hard drive, the registry can ...

Re: Saving subtitle/video setting

VLC should automatically load the .srt file without being told to just by playing the movie file when the .srt file has the same name and is in the same directory as the movie file. Always does for me. When I get a movie with subtitles I don't need or want I always make a new subfolder to put them i...

Re: Saving subtitle/video setting

You're welcome. I had the same wish but VLC couldn't do it. Maybe that feature could be incorporated into a new playlist format some day. Meanwhile there are other ways! I think SubMagic is great but it sure could use a help file. Subtitle Workshop is also good but maybe a little complicated with al...

You've got to try this one too.

Re: VLC opens when click a folder

You probably have a corrupted registry. If you can use System Restore to roll back to a previous restore point that might fix your problem or else you might have to reinstall Windows. This problem is not caused by VLC itself. If you know how to use the Registry Editor I could give you some more idea...

Re: Saving subtitle/video setting

There is no way to save settings individually for different files. There is a way to do what you want outside of VLC but it may not be easy. The first part is easy enough. Just rename the movie file and/or the subtitles file to have the same name and VLC will automatically load the subtitles when yo...

Re: Download Subtitles

No. That isn't integrated into VLC. Search for and download subtitles from http://www.opensubtitles.org/ and from http://subscene.com/search.aspx or several other places you can probably find by Googling http://www.google.com/search?q=subtitles+downloads And if you put the subtitle file into the sam...

Re: VLC automatically fullscreens and will not close.

Hi! Here's what you need to do. First open VLC manually with no media file. Click on Tools, Preferences. In the Preferences window bottom-left there is an area labeled "Show settings" with two radio button selections under it, Simple and All. Make sure Simple is selected. Top-left a large ...

Re: Context menu opens 'move to' tweak

Hi, puzzy! The problem is caused by your install of Move To as a context menu item. Here's a link that describes your situation: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/movetocontext.htm Lots of people have installed this context menu with the same reg file yours obviously has. I have experimented with Copy To an...

Re: Remove context menu

To Remove Folder & Directory Context Menu Items: Open Regedit. Find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell. Under this key find each VLC key you would like to remove from folder context menus. Rightclick each and choose export (just in case). Save the exported reg file with the name of the key plus &...
