custom crop and aspect (how to remove standards)

I've found the custom cropping and aspect ratio setups, but these only add new ones. I want to reduce the list in both, since there are some, like 2.21:1 which I never use. Is there a way to do that? Also, there's a http request, ?command=aspectratio&val=<newratio> with status.xml, but I cannot ...

Re: Playlist item's path should be a string error

I finally discovered the problem here. When I request from VLC the current playing file which is on my a: drive, it returns a value with file:///a:/.... which uses all forward slashes. Because the file: part was relatively new (it wasn't there when I first wrote my program some 5-8 years ago, not su...

Re: Playlist item's path should be a string error

re: Hitchhker, yes, you found where I originally got the file, but my problem is that ANY file I happen to have won't play. I have a vlc remote app I wrote that can save the position and file name currently playing, and I want to restore to that file/time later. So, I am using the http interface. Bu...

Playlist item's path should be a string error

I'm now using windows 10 and vlc portable 3.0.3, I send a url to localhost:8080/requests/status.xml?command=in_play&input=A%3a%2ffiles%2f396_%20Did%20Rising%20Rates.mp4 (this is a file with url encoding that decodes to A:/files/396_ Did Rising Rates.mp4) and it does not work with a message sayin...

Re: vlc 2.1.4 xubuntu remote access from aplication

Although many users desire to use a password free http interface (as password requirement breaks a lot of vlc interface code) the developers insist that vlc be protected with a password. They call this desire "crazy". Even if you have a dedicated media computer that is firewalled OFF the i...

http without a password

I've been running software for years to control vlc using the http interface.

Now, the new versions insist on a password. Is there a way to override this? I don't need any security, it's a home lan and I'm the only user.

grainy look, deinterlace causes computer freeze fairly often

I'm running w2k with multiple monitors. The output on any of my screens is somewhat grainy, and streaky, whereas with win media player or powerdvd etc. this is not the case. So, I tried using the various options, esp. the deinterlace as words like blend sounded promising, but these usually cause my ...

freezes my (multi mon) system requiring a reset (win2k)

I'm running windows 2000 pro, and I have a multi monitor system. I don't know if the multi monitor is a factor, but thought I should mention it. I've experienced numerous cases where it freezes. For example, if I pause, and move the window to a different monitor it freezes when I hit play, sometimes...
