Re: VLC Crashes on a New Win10 Install.

Well let us blame poor programming. VLC is open-source and such and there seem to be some VLC programmers that do not catch and report errors adequately. I am a programmer too and when I go to forums for the purpose of helping others, when a developer asks about their program crashing unexpectedly, ...

Re: VLC Crashes on a New Win10 Install.

The crashdump directory at C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\vlc is empty. I went to "Custom Views" | "Administrative Events" in the Event Viewer and found the following. Faulting application name: vlc.exe, version: 3.0.8.0, time stamp: 0xa6b0a6a0 Faulting module name: libqt_plugin.dl...

Re: VLC Crashes on a New Win10 Install.

I apologize if I gave the impression that I have any fix, perhaps temporary. I have no fix.

Re: VLC Crashes on a New Win10 Install.

I might have the same problem but my symptoms are not the same exactly. For one thing, this Windows 10 installation is not new. Yesterday VLC downloaded and installed version 3.0.8. As far as I know everything worked before the upgrade but I cannot be sure. Now however VLC crashes in the manner desc...

Re: Record button should show recording on/off

No need to say "Just pay attention to details". That is the kind of negative words that might make you feel good but causes problems. By coincidence, I have converted from one system to another. In my new system I do see a small difference, but it is wrong to assume that everyone sees what...

Re: "Record" Default Directory change

Ah I got it to work now. I used the GUI itself to set the path I wanted. I used this guide: http://wiki.robotz.com/index.php/Recording_Video_With_VLC I have no idea why editing the configuration file with Notepad did not work. Except it is (now) in the ""Advanced" group (near the bot...

Re: Record button should show recording on/off

The record button has a red circle in the center. The second icon can be changed to a red rectangle to indicate stop button. Thank you. I hope you don't mind linking to where the relevant instructions are. I am sure I could figure it out but if you already know then it would help me and others to g...

Re: Record button should show recording on/off

They just need to replace the second icon image with something more different from the first
like something flashing?
Anything that is visually different. Flashing would work but personally that is not a requirement.

Re: Record button should show recording on/off

I also support the fix. It seems to be an extremely simple fix, it is just a matter of changing the icon or icons used for the states of the record button. If someone can provide a procedure for modifying the skin then that would help. The problem is not unique to Linux, the problem is the same for ...

Re: Record button does not indicate the video is being rrecorded

Thank you, that describes the problem but does not provide a solution. I will try to find it in the "feature request forum" and if I can't find it I will add it. Is there any solution or work-around until the problem is fixed appropriately?

Record button does not indicate the video is being rrecorded

I am sorry if this question is not specific to Windows. The record button looks the same whether I am recording or not so I cannot determine whether I am recording. I have looked at the available skins and many of them look nice but I cannot determine how functional they are nor if any solve this sp...

Re: Can VLC correctly play .tivo files on Mac OS X Mountain

In Windows, the "native TiVo desktop" does not play Tivo files. I do not know it it does in a Mac so if that is what you mean then this comment is not relevant.

Re: Can VLC correctly play .tivo files on Mac OS X Mountain

VLC has the advantage that we can replay at a faster speed and the audio is still good. It is good for news and shows like Dr. Oz. The point I am making is that as a Tivo customer, I understand the interest in alternatives. We have totally valid reasons to want to use VLC with Tivo files directly. I...

Re: Can VLC correctly play .tivo files on Mac OS X Mountain

It was my understanding that Tivo files (with extension tivo) require a Media Access Key (MAK) to be played and the MAK depends on the customer's account. We are not supposed to disclose the MAK to anyone except the people that the account applies to. Now, please excuse me for not remembering the te...

Re: VLC on HP TouchPad

There are very many WebOS users that are very alive. I don't know what the definition is of a dead OS but the most important criteria is the number of current users. It is easy to say to switch from WebOS to Android for Touchpads but Android is still in the future; it is alpha but not yet beta even....

Re: Disabling Multiple Instances.

It began working for me; I am now getting only one instance as before. I am not sure what I did to fix it; it fixed itself. The only thing I did was to toggle the "Enqueue items to playlist when in one instance mode" but perhaps I did not exit from VLC after turning it back off before conc...

Re: Disabling Multiple Instances.

I seem to have the same problem. I have both "Allow Only one running instance" and "One instance when started from file" selected. I assume that should limit VLC to just one instance; if I am wrong then I cannot find anything describing those options. I have exited from VLC and e...

Re: A-B repeat

Thank you; yes that did it. I looked everywhere for it but missed seeing the advanced controls. I hope this thread helps others too.

I got a new computer four months ago and the system that I had discovered the A-B repeat in is not my current system.

A-B repeat

Where is A-B repeat? I am nearly certain that it exists in VLC but now I can't find it. It is for repeating for a specified time period. I might think that it does not exist, but I found another thread in which someone asks about it. I treid searching the documentation and the forums, but the word r...
