Michele, looks like I was right after all ... The Nate Muench PPA has broken ffmpeg packages, and so if you install those, all your other media/editing apps that depend on ffmpeg will break. And it is an *enormous* hassle restoring all the libs to their previous state. It doesn't give me any pleasur...

I'm not sure I agree with slumbergod in his assessment of the reliability of c-korn repos. Some people are saying that they sincerely hope c-korn never comes back. Also be aware that the VLC PPA repo by Christoph Korn has exactly the same problems. He started to offer broken replacements for core system libraries. The repo has now been withdrawn. Mr Korn has walked away and left all his victims high and dry with broken systems and not a hint of remorse or an a...
