Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

VLC 1.1.5 now works fine on my Windows XP (SP3) boxes. You hardly see a delay when clicking the "x" icon so this should not be an issue (here). Thanks to the VLC team for finally fixing the big WinXP bug in VLC 1.1.5 . This now means that the many XP users out there can download the curren...

How to make --sub-fps to work?

Hi, I can't use the VLC command "--sub-fps" to correct wrongly timed subtitles (in SubRIP .srt format). For example I'd like to start VLC with "vlc.exe --sub-fps 25", in order to have a 25 fps video displaying a 23.98 fps subtitles file synchronously. But it looks like the --sub-...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

*bump*

Any news on this topic, which actually prevents most Windows XP users to use the current VLC 1.1.x version?
(I guess many of them will think VLC is buggy and don't use VLC at all. They will hardly know they could still use VLC 1.0.5 ...)

VLC 1.1.x just can't be used on WindowsXP

This "not closing" bug very much is a general " VLC 1. 1 .x won't run on any Windows XP " feature. It has not being fixed for a long time now. This is amazing because closing an application shouldn't be that hard on any platform, and well it actually worked for many years in VLC ...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

Because of the "DLL security problem" (binary planting), there's been a new VLC version 1.1.4 just to workaround this. (See http://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/1.1.4.htm ) That's nice, but again shows the huge problem for us many Windows XP users who just can not use VLC v1.1.x, but have ...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

It shouldn't be video related since AFAIK people have this issue with audio files and with just opening and closing VLC. OK, I see. But what has changed in the "Click X"-closing mechanism of VLC version 1.1.0 and above (doesn't work) compared to version 1.0.5 and below (worked fine "...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

Ok, i understand your position. By the way, version 1.1.3 has been officially released, but the problem is still there. :-( Still can't use any of the 1.1.x versions of VLC. Very unfortunate. Do all the Windows XP users who report this problem here, have got ATI video cards installed in their PCs, ...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 don't unload when closed under XP

Does anyone know if the bug you talk about also occurs in Windows Vista?
No, I don't know.

But on all my Windows XP machines it occurs for sure and it's a real show stopper.

VLC 1.1.x don't unload when window closed under XP

I too have to confirm this bug. If on any of my Windows XP machines I close any VLC version 1.1.0, 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 by pressing its window "X" symbol (top right), VLC usually keeps running as invisible task without a window, and prevents loading a new instance of VLC. That bug prevents us to...
