Windows xp. All was working fine but upon upgrade every video plays only a white screen with audio. Then I tried with windows media player and that gives the same white screen with audio. I uninstalled VLC and reinstalled the old version. Still white screen. SO what exactly did the new install do to...

As an amateur DAW user and person with similar frustration it seems to me, correct me if I am wrong, that the first answer photon gave was excellent and what people like us need is a video player vst plugin for our daw, not a compression/limiter plugin for VLC.
