And as you said, according to http://www.mail-archive.com/pulseaudio-tickets@mail.0pointer.de/msg04017.html, libpulse makes no longer use of Xlib in the relevant parts since the latest version, 0.9.22. Ubuntu 10.10...

Thanks for your answer! Do you have deeper insights into this Xlib-problem and can you give some precise information on it? It sounds as if the basic problem lays in Mozilla, which 'uses Xlib in some exclusive or incorrect fashion'. How? A workaround to avoid the symptoms might be to remove any Xlib...
