Getting the same error message, Windows XP SP3, using VLC 1.1.2 that I dl'd from the site and installed today. I got the error every time I tried to play a folder's contents via Media > Open Folder. Sent a couple of the crash reports as well. If I dragged & dropped the folder onto the vlc player...
