Looks like 2.0.1, as seen in Xubuntu 12.04, has solved this.

The volume hotkeys (default is Ctrl+Up/DnArrow) is flaky as can be. It happens ONLY when something is playing but not when idle. The setting bounces around randomly. Anyone else seeing this? The bleeding edge PPA finally got 1.1.12 to us Ubuntu 10.04 LTS users last week. Thumbs up! Sync solved.

Hmmmm... I set the VLC "Audio Output Module" to ALSA and the sync problem is fixed. BUT... any glitch kills audio, even a stop/start. In particular, the live stream from TWiT (BitGravity). Anyone know why this wouldn't work? Another pulseaudio or VLC bug? I know ALSA is a pulseaudio module...

Most noticeable on a tiny sound effect but I believe it's on everything. Output stops about 1/2 second early. If the clip is 1/2 second long, nothing is heard in Windows or Linux. Forcing Mono seems to do it here. But I'm cautious - making changes can bury the problem for quite a while.

Ditto as everyone describes. Two systems, AMD and Intel. Started with 1.1.0-RC. I fiddled with blowing away configurations and some cache files. It *can* magically disappear for complete sessions. If I had to guess, skipping around seems to aggravate it. It's like a buffer corruption somewhere. MP3s...
