can anyone suggest what's the best video and audio codec for streaming in HTTP or UDP? best means the fastest and most efficient.

for MPEG-TS, i've been using MJPEG and MP4a.

here's my two cents to this:

stream out each of your webcams to particular ports in the server using unicast in vlc.

for each port in the server, you put vlc to listen and stream out the data using http.

then the clients (i.e. media player, browser) open the URL. then you're done.

How fast can you get from streaming video?

Recently, I setup a video chat using vlc. I got an average of 3 to 5 seconds delay from a remote client. Is this the fastest speed that I can get? I am trying to emulate the speed when using x-box video chat which has a delay of around less than 1 to 2 seconds. Is this achievable using vlc? Thanks, ...
