HDR Playback too dark?

I tried the playback of a HDR file, and I got the same problem as here in the windows section or here in the macos section: Playback is fine, but seems to be too dark. Adding a filter breaks performance limit on my G4560 Intel HDGraphics 610. Here is a log file of the playback of a sample: https://c...

Re: subtitles size

O.K, the blame is on my side - my subtitles are extracted with the help of ffmpeg from TV recordings and - I don't know since when? - the do(!) contain style information although they claim to be plain-text-subtitles (*srt). In my case, these are taken into account by vlc or overwritten by commandli...

Re: subtitles size

Sorry for comming back so late.
But for srt-File - meaning pure text-based subtitles files - the option "Font size" should apply with the same effect it does to the OSD-messages, shouldn't it?

subtitles size

Am I alone with this? I desperately try to change the subtitle size of text-subtitle, srt-Files e.g. Of course there is the option "Font size under "Tools - Subtitles /OSD". With this, I can change the size of the OSD-Text like the file name showed when starting playback very effectiv...

Re: VLC unable to display subtitles correctly

Which container do you use for recording? Matroska (mkv) or do you use ts (TransportStream, which would be to my knowledge the native container-Format for digital Television. I could solve the playback issue with Matroska files in vlc by remuxing (not reencoding) my records using ffmpeg like this: f...

Re: compile errror on git or source snapshot

So it's ffmpeg again. I downgraded to this version: ffmpeg version 2.4.4 Copyright (c) 2000-2014 the FFmpeg developers built on Dec 1 2014 05:59:35 with gcc 4.9.2 (GCC) .... libavutil 54. 7.100 / 54. 7.100 libavcodec 56. 1.100 / 56. 1.100 libavformat 56. 4.101 / 56. 4.101 libavdevice 56. 0.100 / 56....

compile errror on git or source snapshot

Trying to compile today's git or source snapshot of 2014-12-29 of 3.0.0, I get in both cases this error: CC hw/vdpau/libvdpau_avcodec_plugin_la-avcodec.lo hw/vdpau/avcodec.c: In function ‘Setup’: hw/vdpau/avcodec.c:178:5: error: implicit declaration of function ‘av_vdpau_get_surface_parameters’ [-We...

I ran into something similar:

Maybe this gives you some useful hints.

Re: Why isn't VLC displaying my Blu-ray discs' opening menu?

I wonder if displaying BluRay menus is already implemented at all. For Playback without the help of AnyDVD, I guess this error message says what you are missing: "This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it". So fire up your favourite search engine...

Re: stop or end of video make vlc crash with vaapi enabled

In between, I tried the new vlc 2.1.5 from the repositories of arch linux, but the problem persists.

Still no problems with my git compile (r2.1.0git3527g1172ce6).

Re: crashes with newer versions

Meaning older git versions don't use driver(=vaapi?!)functions which more recent git-versions do which lead to crashes?
Because when up or downgrading, I don't change the x11-drivers or their configuration.

crashes with newer versions

Does this makes sense: To avoid this: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=119590 problem, I happily used a self compiled git version, which introduces itself as r2.1.0git3527g1172ce6. Just being curious, I tried newer versions, e.g 2.2.0.git.225.g94eb951 or 2.2.0.git.388.g69af053 But...

VAAPI via DRM or X11

In current git, I found the possibility to change between two different acceleration options: VAAPI via DRM or VAAPI via X11.

Has anyone some background informations/ links about this?

Re: What type of hardware to play 50 GB blu-ray rips?

Compare the bitrate of your files instead of reporting the resulting file size.
There may be a problem on your system when exceeding a certain bitrate. This could be related to, e.g., the bitrate your storage medium provides or your graphic card or ... And may be it is something else.

Re: stop or end of video make vlc crash with vaapi enabled

Thanks for watching and help . Sadly, I had no luck so far. With todays ffmpeg-git vlc works in principally on my intel-HD-2000 Graphics PC, but vlc crashes even immediately after pressing the play button when vaapi is enabled. No problems so far when it is disabled. It doesn't seem to matter whethe...

stop or end of video make vlc crash with vaapi enabled

Can't find anything related to this, so I may asked: Current vlcs (e.g. 2.1.3) play fine with h264-Video, but at the end of the video or when pressing the stop button vlc vanish into nothing. Playing the same videos without vaapi enabled (hw acceleration disabled at all) don't make vlc disappear pre...

Re: nvdia vdpau acceleration without (positive) effects

Yes, I guess the ffmpeg compile I used was broken. Forth try, this time back to ffmpeg-git. I compiled it with: ./configure --enable-libzvbi --enable-gpl --enable-libx264 --enable-nonfree --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaac --enable-version3 --enable-pic --enable-postproc --prefix=/mnt/sda7/ffmpeg_...

Re: vlc-qt for Qt5 error

What are the correct configure / make options to make sure that vlc is compiled against qt4 only? I always get a separate window when playing a video with a self compiled vlc. This was assumed to be the cause of a qt4/ qt5 mix up ( https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=115608&p=393...

Re: nvdia vdpau acceleration without (positive) effects

So what could mess up my playback apart from seeing ghosts? Playing my testfile with xine gives me smooth playback and a CPU Load of about 10 percent. Playing the same file with vlc-git, e.g.: ./vlc /mnt/sda9/ProjectX/Shetland.ts VLC media player 2.2.0-git Weatherwax (revision 8da1697) [0000000001ec...
