Re: What advantage x64 VLC vs x86 ?

Thanks for your answer The post above yours was well meaning I'm sure, but it really had nothing to do with my question, but you hit it on the head with your evaluation. I've been working with computers since the very early 70's and have a fairly good grasp of the differences in architecture of the ...

What advantage x64 VLC vs x86 ?

Hello I've had nothing but problems with the last few x64 versions of VLC and I find the X86 seems to work flawlessly for what I use it for. Yes I've read till my eyes bleed and I'm just going to wait for some new version but until then I'm using the x86 version. I wonder if anyone can tell me defin...

Re: VLC being the Bully on the block, taking over m3u files!

Having not received any answer I still would like to know why, when I disable ALL audio file types and also M3u/M3u8 file types upon VLC install, the firefox plugin that vlc installed insists on taking over M3u/M3u8 streams. The only solution is to disable the plugin completely. Am I missing somethi...

Re: VLC being the Bully on the block, taking over m3u files!

I've since found that disabling the VLC plugin in firefox allows winamp to takeover m3u files.
Do I need this plugin?

Re: VLC being the Bully on the block, taking over m3u files!

I use Firefox and the only place where I see any "associations" is the applications tab under options. Indeed when I looked I couldn't find any M3u or M3u8 file types I did find two instances of Mp-3 both assigned to VLC. I have changed that to winamp and will test now and post results her...

VLC taking over MP3 playing

When I setup vlc on the install I deselected ALL Audio file associations for a test and as a last resort. I then confirmed that the winamp file associations for MP3 and OOG where selected. If I remove VLC completely from my system these files play in winamp with no issues. I also told VLC upon insta...

VLC taking over MP3 playing

Yes I searched but couldn't find an answer that exactly addressed my issue. In the past versions I was able to reinstall and deselect MP3 etc.. and it wouldn't take over the play of MP3 files from winamp. Now even if I unchecked all audio files it still takes over when ever I open a audio file on an...

Re: Copy media/codec info?

I found a great alternative called mediainfo.exe it's an open source project and works with pretty much all types of video files it provides tons of info and can be easily customized through the very friendly GUI, it's written in C++. It would be sweet to integrate this with VLC, seems like if someo...

Re: Copy media/codec info?

PrintScreen always works. Good one! Yes it does make good pictures  Any other good ones? Only a developer could come up with a good joke like that :D All kidding aside are there any plans to fix this oversight? Or are most users happy with using a picture of the Codec data?

Re: Copy media/codec info?

 Ok, no way to simply copy and paste. I guess it must be harder to do then I imagined, well at least I know I'm not over looking something staring me in the face. It seems like something a lot of folks would like to paste into their library's. Well I guess I can use gspot for xvid/.avi but it...

Copy media/codec info?

Hello I searched on this using all sorts of permutations and still couldn't find an answer. I am sure because it's super obvious, But I just can't figure out how to copy and paste or print the very useful media info and codec info that can be bought up on the screen. I know it must be something supe...
