Re: Building font cache

I just did a little test and it appears the problem is that VLC does not handle the UNC name correctly. I opened a Command Prompt window and typed SET. The APPDATA environment variable is set to a UNC similar to this APPDATA=\\servername\users\username\Application Data. In the Command Prompt window ...

Re: Building font cache

Any ideas on the problem that DJX and I have? Our issue is that our %appdata% directory is redirected to a network drive and the font cache file is never created. I am logged in to the network when I install VLC. Clearly, %appdata% on the network drive is accessible because the .ini and .xpsf files ...

Re: Building font cache

This error still occurs with VLC 1.1.1. The font cache file is never created on the network drive. The files %APPDATA%\vlc\vlc-qt-interface.ini and %APPDATA%\vlc\ml.xspf, however, are created and they are updated when vlc is closed. Off hand, it sounds like the code used to locate the %APPDATA% dire...

Re: Building font cache

I just thought I would add that, like DJX, I searched my entire hard drive and network home directory and I could find no cache-2 file anywhere.

Re: Building font cache

I installed 1.1.0 at home and I do not have this issue. The font file is created in the typical appdata\vlc directory (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\vlc) and it is only created once. It appears that, for me, the issue is related to the windows/network login redirecting %appdata...

Re: Building font cache

I just double checked and that is correct. No cache file is created in %appdata%\vlc. I am using XP and my %appdata%\vlc directory is on a network drive. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Re: Building font cache

I don't know about the OP but, for me, as I wrote in my post, yes it ends and no a cache file is never created.

Re: Building font cache

I am having the same problem. Whenever I double click on a video file (mp4 or avi), I get a message that it is Building Font Cache. It only takes a few seconds but I have been using vlc for several years and I have never seen this message. There are no subtitles on the videos and a cache file is not...
