I did send a reply, but it seems to be lost? After watching the movie, i deleted it, as I do not collect movies. So I cannot repeat the procedure to read the exact wording, but it was one sentence only and it said something very similar to what I wrote. Especially the last part which says, "......

Something like: VLC cannot play this file and there is nothing that can be done about it....

I have downloaded an .avi file from austrian TV and VLC cannot play it, why?

The point is, that KM Player does play it.....

In the Toolbars editor, there is a "Playback Speed" item in the "Toolbar Elements" window that will show the current playback speed. As long as I can change it easily to 150% I am happy... The point is, that I after suffering through such changes for 3o years, I have become quit...

You type %appdata%\vlc to Windows Explorer or to start -> run. It will lead you to right place.

It found it in the roaming folder, and so, whenever vlc starts to crash again too often, I delete this whole folder?

Delete %appdata%/vlc folder

How exactly do I do that, where do I find it? That is the folder in the PcUser\AppData Folder? Completely delete the whole thing?

The bad news is, that now I am back were I started, with a vlc player that crashes all the time.

Try to uninstall, restart Windows and then install new version.

It is not that common. PLease try VLC 2.0.0-rc1, it should work better at higher speeds. I checked, and you are correct, I am using vlc-1.1.11-win32. Since a few weeks vlc has been crashing regularly after a while, usually at higher speeds, or when manually forwarding. It never did this in the past. I uninstalled and re-installed vlc, but there is no improvement.

Should I install an older version? Is this a common problem?

I checked wireshark, but there is absolutely nothing there that makes any sense to a newb like me.
When I have a lot more time I will check if I can find a tutorial for vlc someplace....

That URL leads to HTML pages. VLC cannot automatically parse video from that page. So you have to figure out the URL the flash player opens in that page.

You have exact URL to stream? VLC cannot parse justin.tv pages so you need RTSP or similar URL. I am not sure if it is the exact one, its the one that is where on my firefox the url is. For example, "The Big Bang Theory" I can watch when I give firefox this adress: http://www.justin.tv/zi...

I am using vlc media player with Windows7.
I watch streams from websites like justin.tv but I cannot get them top play on vlc, I can copy all the urls I want.....

How can I use vlc for streams.....?
