You dont have to "print screen" to take a screenshot, but if you really want to, just open VLC, load a movie (it doesnt matter, you wont use it), pause it.

Open a second VLC, load your movie and take screenshots from the second player.

Both streams are working fine for me.
I have tried VLC 0.8.5-svn-20051123-0000 (Nightly Build) and VLC 0.8.4-test2.

Maybe you should wait some days until the new version is out.

Make sure that you and your friend are watching the same file at the same time. Where is the problem ?

I think if i can play one file with 4 VLC at the same time (one PC) it should be no problem for you and your friend.

I suppose you are using the skins2 interface, if so, try to disable "transparency effekts".
Settings - Preferences - Interface - General - Skins - on the right side you can find the transparency-option.

If you want to use this feature you should download vlc-0.8.4-test2
In the new version it is enabled by default.

It depends on how often you pressed the forward/rewind button.

If you pressed forward two times you have to press the rewind button also two times to be back at "play".

Settings - enable "Extended GUI" - on the "Video"-Tab you have to enable "Adjust Image".
Now you are able to adjust Hue, Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Gamma.
